Key Responsibilities:
- Strip down and rebuild engines as part of scheduled overhauls or reactive repairs.
- Conduct routine servicing, including:
- - Oil and filter changes.
- - Spark plug inspection/replacement.
- - Air, gas, and coolant system checks.
- - Ignition system testing and maintenance.
- Perform full system inspections and run-up tests under load conditions.
- Diagnose faults using engine control modules, diagnostic tools, and visual inspections.
- Maintain service records, log engine hours, and report any fault codes or unusual findings.
- Monitor gas pressure and make adjustments according to manufacturer specifications.
- Inspect emissions control systems including catalytic converters and oxygen sensors (where applicable).
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with relevant standards.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Background in Mechanical Engineering, Engine Technology, or Plant Maintenance.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with internal combustion engines (diesel, petrol, or gas).
- Solid understanding of spark ignition systems and general engine diagnostics.
- Experience working with natural gas, biogas, or LPG engines. (Desirable, Not Essential)
- Familiarity with generator sets (gensets), especially for stationary power applications. (Desirable, Not Essential)
- OEM training (e.g., Caterpillar, Cummins, MWM, Jenbacher) is a plus. (Desirable, not Essential)
- Experience with gas pressure systems, catalytic converters, or oxygen sensor maintenance. (Desirable, not Essential)
