Job Duties:
The Senior Buyer – Retail is responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing merchandise that meets the company’s brand standards, sales targets, and customer expectations. The role requires strategic supplier management, strong negotiation skills, and market trend awareness to ensure optimal product availability and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing & Procurement
- Identify, source, and purchase merchandise in line with the company’s retail strategy.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure competitive advantages.
- Ensure timely ordering and delivery of goods to meet stock requirements.
- Review purchase orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Product Selection & Merchandising
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences to select high-demand products.
- Work closely with the merchandising team to develop appealing product assortments.
- Maintain a balanced product mix between new trends and best sellers.
- Supplier Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance in terms of quality, reliability, and service.
- Resolve supplier issues such as late deliveries, quality concerns, and payment disputes.
- Budget & Financial Control
- Monitor and control purchasing budgets to maximize profitability.
- Analyze sales performance and adjust buying plans accordingly.
- Ensure alignment with company’s gross margin and inventory turnover targets.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchase records and supplier contracts.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Bus. Admin., Supply Chain, Retail Management, or related field.
- 4 to 6 years of purchasing in retail (Fashion, FMCG, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- English is a must - Arabic and French are a plus.
- Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations and cost savings.
- Strong knowledge of retail trends, inventory control, and category management.
- Dual nationality is a major plus.
