Role:
The Head of Power Department will lead and manage all aspects of the company’s power division, covering renewable energy, conventional power, and power infrastructure projects. While there is a strong focus on solar energy and hybrid systems, the role also requires expertise in transmission lines, substations, distribution networks, and grid integration.
This position demands strategic leadership, technical excellence, and proven experience in delivering large-scale power and energy projects, with an emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the strategic plan for the Power Department, aligning with the company’s vision and growth objectives.
- Ensure compliance with local and international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, etc.).
- Oversee the design, engineering, and execution of solar, hybrid, substations, transmission, and distribution projects from concept to commissioning.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards.
- Manage relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide technical leadership in solar photovoltaic (PV) system design, energy storage solutions, and hybrid systems.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies in the renewable energy sector.
- Perform technical reviews, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses for solar projects.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and technicians.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the department.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure profitable project execution.
- Support marketing and tendering teams with technical inputs for proposals and bids.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the power sector, with at least 10 years in solar energy projects and 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale solar projects (utility-scale and/or commercial).
- Strong knowledge of solar PV technologies, software, inverters, energy storage, grid integration, and hybrid systems.
- Excellent understanding of financial models, cost estimation, and project economics.
- Familiarity with relevant international codes and standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE).
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to project sites and international exhibitions as required.
