Job Summary:
In addition to reading, analyzing and implementing maps, he or she supervises and coordinates daily activities of workers/subcontractors installing, repairing, and inspecting mechanical/plumbing/firefighting installation making sure it is compliant with the respective approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes of practice and company standards.
Tasks and Duties:
Job specific tasks:
- Direct the day-to-day activities of foremen, technicians, and subcontractors, ensuring optimal manpower and equipment utilization.
- Plan installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable piping, consistent with specifications and French mechanical codes.
- Plan installation of equipment and fixtures such but not limited to chillers, ducts, pumps, sanitary wares, sanitary accessories, FCUs, AHUs and valves.
- Test integrity of systems (Mechanical, HVAC) to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
- Inspect installation for conformance to French mechanical codes, approved shop drawings, method statements and manufacturers installations manuals.
- Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Repair faulty equipment or systems within the limit of possible.
- Study schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Establishing and/or adjusting work procedures to meet schedules.
- Recommend measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
- Monitor the production of workers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate on site with other trades.
- Identify the needs of material, tools and manpower for assigned tasks.
- Ability to provide detailed quantity take off for materials based on approved shop drawings and material submittals.
- Perform pre-tests and tests for all installations.
- Participate in the T&C of the installed systems and equipment.
- Provide daily and monthly reports.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Technical certificate is preferred.
- Fifteen years experience. Five of which as supervisor.
- Fluent in French.
- Ability to train foreman and technicians.
- Preferably worked in French speaking countries.
- Preferably worked on large scale projects from reservations till T&C.
- Ability to work under pressure in many trades in different levels at the same project.
- Ability to work 6 days per week including overtime.
