The BIM Engineer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining accurate BIM models and drawings for façade systems, including curtain walls, aluminium cladding, glazing, and other façade elements. The role involves preparing shop drawings, coordinating with design and engineering teams, identifying clashes, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and coordinate Building Information Modeling (BIM) models for façade systems, including curtain walls, aluminium cladding, glazing, windows, doors, skylights, and other architectural façade elements.
- Prepare detailed 3D BIM models based on architectural drawings, structural drawings, design specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare and update façade shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings, and as-built drawings using relevant BIM and CAD software.
- Coordinate with design engineers, façade consultants, architects, structural engineers, and other project teams to ensure design accuracy and consistency.
- Identify and resolve design clashes and interface issues between façade systems and other building elements.
- Review architectural and structural drawings to identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential technical issues before commencing modeling and detailing.
- Develop detailed façade components, including aluminium profiles, curtain wall framing, brackets, anchors, glass panels, cladding panels, and associated accessories.
- Ensure that BIM models and drawings comply with project specifications, approved design details, applicable standards, and client requirements.
- Prepare material take-offs, quantity schedules, and component schedules from BIM models to support estimation, procurement, and fabrication activities.
- Coordinate with the production and fabrication teams to ensure that BIM models and shop drawings provide the necessary information for manufacturing and assembly.
- Incorporate design revisions and consultant comments into BIM models and drawings, ensuring proper revision control and document accuracy.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and technical discussions to resolve modeling, detailing, and installation-related issues.
- Support the preparation of material submittals, technical drawings, and documentation required for consultant and client approvals.
- Ensure proper coordination of façade interfaces with concrete structures, steel structures, waterproofing, insulation, and other building components.
- Assist the engineering team in developing façade details, connection details, installation sequences, and construction methodologies.
- Maintain BIM models in accordance with the project's BIM Execution Plan (BEP), modeling standards, naming conventions, and Level of Development (LOD) requirements.
- Prepare and manage model exports, drawing sheets, schedules, and other technical deliverables within the required project timelines.
- Conduct quality checks on BIM models and drawings to identify dimensional errors, inconsistencies, and coordination issues before submission.
- Coordinate with site teams to address installation difficulties, clarify technical details, and provide revised drawings whenever required.
- Maintain organized records of BIM models, drawings, revisions, and technical correspondence throughout the project lifecycle.
